{"id":15043,"date":"2024-05-29T13:37:54","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T13:37:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iris-cc.cat\/?p=15043"},"modified":"2025-01-25T15:25:32","modified_gmt":"2025-01-25T15:25:32","slug":"alfonso-valencias-lecture-on-ai-in-the-health-and-life-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iris-cc.cat\/en\/alfonso-valencias-lecture-on-ai-in-the-health-and-life-sciences","title":{"rendered":"Alfonso Valencia&#8217;s lecture on AI in the health and life sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ICREA Professor Alfonso Valencia, Director of the Department of Life Sciences at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, has been the first speaker of the new cycle &#8220;IRIS-CC: Conferences&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, May 27, the UVIC-UCC Auditorium hosted the conference in Valencia, which stated that the great advances in computing, programming capabilities and the development of artificial intelligence tools (generative AI, conversational tools-ChatGPT) will represent a technological revolution with a great impact on the economy, education and decision-making in life sciences and health.<\/p>\n<p>The professor showed the new capabilities of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which will be able to develop conversational tools in the official languages of the Spanish state; as well as the development of digital twins (&#8220;virtual twins&#8221;), this will allow all kinds of applications to be used in real-world artificial models.<\/p>\n<p>The director of IRIS-CC, Jos\u00e9 Jer\u00f3nimo Navas, and the president of the institute and rector of the UVIC-UCC, Josep Eladi Ba\u00f1os, also took part in the event.
